The wedding reception is the one time where guests can relax and enjoy a good time. Though they came for the wedding, the guests still expect a good dinner, great dessert, good company, and even better music. The perfect disc jockey will take over a wedding, getting everyone involved, and steer the direction of the reception by playing a variety of good music. Hiring the right DJ is critical to ensuring the flow of your reception will go by smoothly. Music can definitely make or break your wedding, and here are a few tips for choosing the right DJ:

Shopping for a DJ
It’s best to start the shopping process by asking around. It’s impossible to know whether a DJ is good unless you have a friend or family member that’s had a pleasant experience with a particular disc jockey. Otherwise, you’re left to watching hours of videotapes the DJ has supplied you from past weddings. Find a few friends that got married in your area and try to come up with a general consensus.

Price isn’t everything.
Remember that you get what you pay for. Though it’s a cliché, it’s certainly true when it comes to selecting a DJ. Didn’t you learn in business school that quality is always better than quantity? Don’t look at hiring a DJ as if you’re purchasing some tangible item. There are good disc jockeys and there are bad ones. Pay the extra money to get the quality entertainment. Also, if you’re thinking about hiring a DJ that a friend recommended then don’t hesitate to ask for a discount. Most DJs are negotiable with their pricing, especially if he is referred by someone.

Disc jockeys should be hired as a package. Keep in mind when you’re discussing hourly rates that you’re not only paying for the entertainment, but also the labor costs, operating costs, and stress of transporting and unloading the heavy equipment to and from your reception. Also, while we’re on price keep in mind that a DJ that charges you less may use cheaper equipment and their selection of music may be much smaller.

Interviews
Once you’ve narrowed down your list to a few disc jockeys, begin the interview process. Once you conduct the interview, you’ll quickly see whether or not a particular DJ is the real deal or just a hobbyist.  The first things you should listen for is their voice. Their voice should be very distinctive and rich in tone. Their words should be enunciated clearly and delivered sharply. If their voice sounds average then maybe their entertainment will be average. Don’t be embarrassed to ask the DJ, whether it’s on the phone or in person, to give an example on how they would introduce the wedding party. The DJ’s voice should command attention.

If you’re pleased with the voice then move on to the next subject. Another important aspect is their experience. You’ll get one of two responses: the DJ will proudly provide documentation to back up his claims or they’ll dance around the question. You want someone that has been doing it for years now. Those DJ’s that aren’t willing to honestly answer the question are not the right choice for you, and there are plenty more choices out there.
Don’t be afraid to ask the DJ for references. After all, what matters the most is whether or not the people who hired them in the past were pleased with the overall entertainment. Start with their past clients. Placing a call to the past clients will give you the opportunity to talk and discuss the type of music that was played and how the DJ did. After that, talk with industry professionals that have worked closely with the DJ such as catering managers, photographers, and hotel staff. They see DJs many times throughout the years and they know a good one when they see one. They have no objectivity, which is important when selecting a DJ. Most couples that have used a particular DJ have a biased opinion because they believe their wedding was perfect in every way, but an industry professional is not emotionally involved and will tell it like it is.

Ask the DJ for the opportunity to review his or her song lists and library. Most modern DJs have changed over to computerized music because it is cleaner and is of better quality. Twenty thousand songs is a good indicator that the DJ has a great variety and takes their job seriously. Once you receive the song list then review it and look for an overall theme. The point here is to make sure there is NO overall theme. You don’t want the DJ forcing their musical tastes onto their audience. This is your wedding, and they should play songs that fit your tastes. Also, ask the DJ if they have a problem with you not to play specific songs. For instance, at my wedding I respectfully requested that he not play the “Electric Slide,” “Brick House” or the “Macarena.” He told me he wouldn’t, but then to my displeasure he played them, making me very upset. Be sure that you don’t face this problem.

Those are just a few things to keep in mind when looking for a DJ. Make sure that he matches with your personality and they seem confident they can do a great job.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom documented their wedding for an E! special.

The couple had their wedding that wasn’t really a wedding, that still had cake, at the end of September. It took weeks of wrangling but the pre-nup negotiations are finally over and done with, and the fakery can finally be set in stone. The couple’s E! television special called Keeping Up With the Kardashians: The Wedding will air Nov. 8 at 9 p.m. E.T..

It’ll be worth watching if only for the wooden acting and awkward silences, as every one pretends they aren’t just there for the free food and the cameras.

Video under the cut showing the Khloe Kardashian wedding special sneak peek.

When I came to LA from NY about 30 years ago (did I actually admit to that?),
I was a working actress and model. Hollywood was good for me and I began to get work
right away. At the same time, I met an actor/bartender whom I began to
casually date. But he had other ideas and soon we were married. So, career
gave way to 25 years of marriage and three awesome kids.

Flash forward, way forward, and I'm happily on my own again, now as a producer. Most of the projects I have been involved with are studio fare — you know, big budgets,
high concepts and A-list talent attachments. The last thing I ever expected
to wind up doing was becoming part of the creative and marketing team behind a
tiny indie movie attempting to invent a business model for monetizing films
on the Internet. And it all started for me with a splash — literally. Let
me explain.

Last October, a clip of a clumsy best man, knocking his bride and the priest
into the pool during the wedding ring exchange, was released on YouTube.
That clip spread like wildfire, becoming an Internet sensation.
The clip was also featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Today Show and Good
Morning America
among others. Just another viral video flavor of the month
you say? Not exactly. It's actually a scene from Chloe and Keith's Wedding, a
film written and directed by Archie Gips, produced by Dennis Anderson, and
executive produced by me.

I first recognized the uniqueness of the project when I read Archie's
script. It was a charming romantic comedy with edge and interesting
characters, but more importantly it was the way that it was going to be shot
that really excited me. It would have the look and feel of documentary-style
found footage from a wedding — essentially a rom-com Blair Witch. The entire
film tells the story of Jordan (the clumsy best man) as he reconnects with
his ex-love Sarah at the wedding of Chloe and Keith. Everything in this
wedding video would be captured by the footage shot by the videographer
and the flip-cameras of other guests at the wedding.

The YouTube pool scene, which was shot at my home along with the rest of the
film, was our clever way to circumvent the costs of bringing an independent
film to the attention of viewers. As Archie, Dennis and I discussed at the
onset of production, since this was to be an ultra-low-budget film, we
certainly couldn't market it traditionally. We had to get creative. The
viral video in essence was to serve as a trailer for our movie. And it
worked! All told, 70 million Internet and TV viewers worldwide have seen the
clip. That number is still staggering to me. Of course, when the video took
off, our distribution plans took a sharp left turn.

Indeed, the success of the clip online convinced us to bypass film festivals
and traditional distribution. Instead we chose to digitally distribute the
movie on our own website, hosted by the bride and groom,
complete with wedding videos and photos and blogs from the couple. This is
when Archie, Dennis and I went from being not just indie filmmakers but
indie marketers, indie distributors and our own mini indie studio as well.
The Internet is still the Wild West when it comes to trying to monetize
content. Finding branded integration for both the movie and website was as
important as making a quality film. We had to do it all.

Of course, not everyone appreciated our inventive marketing approach. With
the disclosure that our bride and groom and their wedding story was pure
fiction there were some disgruntled bloggers, but mostly, people are
watching, downloading and enjoying our film, and that means we've done
something more than right. Personally for me, I am thrilled for the
experience of getting to know and working with Archie and Dennis. We are
already working on developing and producing more projects together
using both traditional distribution and our own online self distribution
method that we continue to shape and create. I'm loving it all!

I wouldn't be doing my job as a producer/marketer/distributor if I didn't
mention that you should check out our movie at

Bridal Shower Lingerie Idea - Planners Will Savor The Fun

For brides, planning your wedding apparel is one of the most crucial aspects of your wedding. Bridal lingerie is a critical, yet surprisingly overlooked necessity. For friends and family, bridal undergarments is a great shower idea.

Whether it is a short teddy or a long gown, you will want apparel that looks elegant and sexy.

You may find fantastic lingerie at Victoria's Secret or Frederick's of Hollywood for that special honeymoon night. You may also see that Sears and Macys have fun and flirty lingerie kits too.

You will also find some great online lingerie sites that have a multitude of diverse styles and designs for that special night. Browsing around the Internet will help you with ideas, while curtailing shyness. That way you can center on what you really like–perhaps some classy separates or tempting lace stockings to help spice up your evening!

Many websites carry accessories to complete your bridal underwear, such as slippers and candles for a romantic setting. You'll be able to find undergarments for your wedding day and honeymoon as well. Don't forget that you might want a special type of bra and hosiery for under your wedding dress.

The bridal accessory list can include anything you desire. Plan your wedding night the way you plan your wedding day. Don't forget the necessities. This includes the clothes you will choose for your honeymoon trip.

Use your honeymoon itinerary to help you plan for your casual wear, dining wear and any other attire you may need while on your trip. This should all be ready to go ahead of time. Then when all the fun and excitement is over, you will have everything organized. This can save a lot of time if you are departing right after the reception, which many people do.

Bear in mind that finding wedding underwear requires a little planning and exploration. Seek out items that make you feel comfortable as well as sexy. And your girlfriends will love the fun of organizing a bridal lingerie shower–an idea whose time has arrived!

Weddings - There are Serveral Types of Ceremonies

While there are many interpretations of a wedding, generally speaking they are still a religious or legal union between two individuals; many changes to the service have occurred in recent years. Marriage is still a legal contract despite the religious background; the law requires that the couple sign the marriage certificate in front of witnesses before the marriage can be legally accepted. A woman taking part in the ceremony is called a bride, a man called a bridegroom; once they are married they known as the wife and husband.

Marriages in a Church

There are many factors that can affect a wedding tradition and those of religion, race and social class for example, can make it very complicated. Performed by a Christian priest or vicar, the church ceremony continues to be top of the list as a venue. Such a traditional wedding ceremony is usually referred to as a white wedding and are considered formal or semi-formal in the United Kingdom, Ireland and United States, as well as some other Commonwealth countries.

Multiple Ceremonies

A different type occasion often difficult to arrange is where two couples are married simultaneously; this type of ceremony is often organized by a person that has a sibling that wants to get married at the same time.

Getting Married in a Foreign Country

Marriages in foreign countries are called destination weddings where guests can arrive either just before the ceremony or actually travel with the couple; the definition of a destination wedding is flexible as you don't actually have to leave your country for it to qualify, just so it isn't in your home town.

Weddings over a Weekend

While it is quite normal for the Irish to have three day weddings, more couples are taking the hint and having theirs over a weekend which gives them more time to enjoy the occasion. Themed occasions can involve golf, hang-gliding, shooting or any type of venue you can imagine. Accommodation for these is normally arranged at the place where the service is going to take place and where the other events are also being held.

Weddings Online

Internet weddings seem to be something that has come about recently and a number of people are now using this method to seal their vows. There are already a number of companies based online can help you find out more information about his unusual type of ceremony. Strangely, if you decide to have your marriage shown online in real time it is called an online wedding.

Marriages without Religious Representation

Elected and appointed officials can carry out a marriage ceremony which is usually called a civil wedding. Although it may sound clinical, civil ceremonies usually make no reference to God. Owing to the brevity of these ceremonies, the persons getting married do not mind if they are carried out in a city hall or even a courtroom.

This brief article mainly discusses weddings based around Christian beliefs but the number of religions and cultures around the world means there is much more to learn about this subject.
