Hello affiliate marketers, I am Gary and I have just launched a self help membership program on Clickbank- SuccessForLazyMen.com Looking for affiliates to promote this super hot niche in a very hungry market - lazy success in self help or personal development. Here's Why You Should Promote …
Although a tropical Laguna seems like a great place to live, not everything is so simple! The people of your tribe have been split apart for many years now. Pirates are patrolling the waters, starving sharks are swimming around, and storms are threatening peaceful villagers and their families. It’s …
Part of the money making plan is traffic and part is conversion. These two things combine to facilitate monetization. Duh! You knew that, right?
Well, it's easy to overlook how important these factors are, the overwhelming difficulty of accomplishing these tasks is often overwhelming. Overwhelming in a way that is really overwhelming. So what does the pro blogger do?
Step 1 in the pro blogger's attack plan: Traffic.
Before you get traffic you have to have content. And it has to be good content. Content is both easier and harder than you would think. Fortunately, the first few posts here are rehashes of other posts, mainly because it is the basic information the pro blogger needs to make money, and it is excellent information, so there is no reason to alter it.
Because pro blogger site is usually focused on money making strategies and collecting links to the resources the pro blogger needs to make money online, it is less important to provide original material and more important to put the material you need to know right up in your face so you won't miss it. Other types of blogs/sites may have more difficulty, but if people arrive at your site and see only ads… You are dead, they will never come back and you wasted your ammo getting them there.
So, you have some content. How do you get the Traffic? Work. Oh yes. Hard work. Including;
A) Search Engine Optimization. Key to making money online is your rankings with the search engines. How do you get a good ranking? First, your keywords must be used correctly. No need to go into detail here, as that information is available in some of the links elsewhere on this page and you probably already know how to say make money online with Money Man over and over. Just do some research and you can make your own decision based on all the different arguments.
What else can the pro blogger do to get better rankings? Links. The pro blogger needs links that link back to the blog from good, well ranked sites with relevant content. It is very important that the pro blogger acquires these links as they indicate the page's importance to the search engines. Linking from your page to others doesn't help much, if at all, but they are necessary, because you are offering content, after all. Incoming links are good for another reason…
B) Put your link out there! Same concept as above, the pro blogger needs links to the pro blogger's making money online blog, but this time, for a different reason. We need traffic and backlinks are how we get it. So go to BlogLog and make the rounds, leave comments, make contacts, leave your link everywhere you go. Do the same thing on every social site you can find, including forums, Technorati, blogs, Facebook, MySpace, Fark, Digg etc. Don't peeve anyone off, just do your thing in a polite and subtle manner. I'm taking it for granted that you know better than to spam anyone. Just put your link in your signature and just be active all over, it will eventually snowball.
C) Specialization/Diversification (Multiple Blogs): This takes some thought. The pro blogger has read much on the subject of monetization and this is where the argument gets hot. There is the one site rule, or specialization, which states that any time you spend on website #2 is time lost on website#1, and you are essentially competing against yourself for rankings. The other side of the conflict says many, more automated niche sites is more effective, diversifying the subject matter and products amongst multiple categories, basically casting as wide a net as possible.
I have decided to focus on three blogs, sticking to basic, specialized subjects, with their various supporting sites and lenses:
Money Man Attacks!-Pure monetization site, focusing on making money online free and providing a blueprint for others to make money online as well. Make Money with Money Man!
MisterSteve-News, current events and happenings of historical significance. Zero monetization.
The Nuclear Family-Webcomic and art blog, where I accept commission requests and sell original art. Although technically monetized, I am generally more artistically motivated to create this site.
D) Specialization/Diversification (Single Blog): The argument for diversification is justified here. Making the decision to focus on a wide variety of subjects is difficult, due to the necessary dilution of your keyword density for each subject, as well as the fact that people generally prefer a niche site, as they generally have niche tastes like most people. Niche sites draw extremely targeted traffic and is generally easier to create content for, since you have far less competition.
E) Submit, submit, submit. Submit to blog directories, search engines, submit good (they do have to be good, that's important) articles to news sites like Digg, Fark, Reddit etc,
The second part is conversion. Converting traffic to money is not easy. But not only can it be done, you can do quite well if you have a strong marketing strategy and are patient enough to see it through.
A) Choose just a few targeted, well branded ads, that everyone will know by site (eBay, Amazon etc) and display them prominently and try to target the text to match. Computer ads with computer text etc… This will put Googlers on the right page for the content they are Googling for, and an opportunity to make a purchase is right in front of them. Make sure your ads are strong, meaning they look good, they are a popular brand, and they convert well. Do your research here, don't use ads that pay $.03 per month or you will be wasting your time. Remember, you want just a few, targeted ads amongst a sea of free content for your readers. Make sure you choose ads that pay and focus on making the site look great and still sell The Merch.
B) Review or discuss the products being sold on your site. Goes hand in hand with above. An ad for the product is great, but your personal opinion of the product is much better, by far. If you have followed the rules of common sense and given your readers pure, honest content and reliable news, having a glowing review from you in their hands is PR gold.
C) Don't BS your audience. The pro blogger assumes that the audience manages to make Windoze run, so the pro blogger assumes his audience already knows a little about making money online, as well as a few other subjects on online money making programs and affiliates. The pro blogger doesn't beat around the bush or BS his audience. If the pro blogger says it, it's true. The pro blogger has no time to try to remember backstory, and neither do you.
D) Produce your own product and sell it. The pro blogger has some artistic ability and has a webcomic and art commissions blog. Any product will do, providing you can make a profit on it and sell enough units to make it worth your while. Selling your own products is far more profitable than affiliate deals and MLM, etc. Remember that you have a global audience and there is a market for everything on Earth.
In Money Man Action Log II, we will discuss the specifics of setting up the site, the PR and The Merch, step by step.
